As part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Czech Centre in Hanoi are co-organizing a special event for the architecture-loving community: The exhibition and architectural talk “The Age of Wood” by architect Martin Rajniš, taking place on April 8, 2025, in Hanoi.
This is a rare opportunity to meet and hear directly from Prof. Arch. Martin Rajniš — one of the most influential figures in contemporary Czech architecture. He is renowned for his design philosophy deeply rooted in nature, his emphasis on sustainability, and his constant innovation in applying traditional materials — especially wood — to create modern, human-centered architectural works.
Martin Rajniš offers a deeply humanistic and creative perspective on timber architecture. With a design approach grounded in nature, sustainability, and continuous renewal, he has been a pioneer in redefining the role of traditional materials in contemporary architecture.

The event features two main activities:

Exhibition “The Age of Wood” – Showcasing a selection of Martin Rajniš’s most notable works, the exhibition demonstrates how he transforms wood into a medium for creating contemporary, ecological, and emotionally resonant spaces. The exhibition is curated and designed by Kiến Việt.

Architectural Talk – Architect Martin Rajniš and his collaborator David Kubík will share insights into their creative journey, their unique design philosophies, and engage in open dialogue with Vietnamese architects, researchers, and the public. The talk is part of the ECAP series – the International Architecture Forum – organized by the Czech Embassy, Czech Centre, and partnering institutions.
