On January 22, 2024, in Hanoi, Panasonic Vietnam honored the most outstanding kitchen space designs selected from nearly 500 submissions in the second season of the Kitchen Insight competition – Kitchen Insight Plus. The Vietnam Interior Design Association (VNIA) served as the official professional and media sponsor of the competition.
As part of the event, leading experts in architecture, interior design, and construction shared diverse perspectives, opening up new approaches to kitchen design in particular and modern living spaces in general. A special exhibition featuring the top 50 kitchen designs and Panasonic’s holistic health solutions also drew the attention of numerous designers and visitors eager to experience the showcase.

A Celebration of Design Excellence
From nearly 500 entries, the selected designs stood out not only for their creativity and impressive visual renderings, but also for their humanistic values and practical relevance. These works reflect the thoughtful perspectives of designers on the evolving lifestyle of today’s society.
Now in its second year, Kitchen Insight Plus, organized by Panasonic Vietnam, has become a prestigious platform that attracts participation from design companies, professional interior architects, and students from across the Vietnamese interior design community.

Exhibition showcasing modern and classic kitchen spaces
At the awards ceremony, for the first time, diverse “ideations” about the future of kitchen design were shared by leading domestic and international experts in architecture, interior design, and sustainable construction.
As the professional sponsor of the competition, VNIA’s leadership delivered insights for young designers participating in the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, Architect Le Truong, President of VNIA, praised the creativity, technical execution, and compelling nature of the submitted designs. He also emphasized three key trends in modern kitchen design:
-
Preserving traditional cultural values,
-
Integrating fully-featured, updated and innovative appliances,
-
Embracing material and spatial efficiency to align with modern lifestyles.

Reflecting on traditional and contemporary Vietnamese kitchens, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Architect Vu Hong Cuong – Vice President of VNIA – compared kitchen designs through different eras, affirming the timeless cultural value of the Vietnamese kitchen.

Architect Takashi Niwa brought a fresh perspective by interpreting the Vietnamese kitchen space through the lens of a Japanese architect. Meanwhile, Douglas Lee Snyder, Executive Director of the Green Building Council, delivered an engaging presentation on the concept of “green kitchens.”

“Nhà An” by Designer Chu Thanh An – First Prize, Traditional & Classic Kitchen Design
In the Modern & Future Kitchen Design category, the First Prize went to Quy Collective with their project “The Boat of Serenity”. Inspired by the mast and sail structures of wooden boats, the design features an intriguing ceiling form that also serves as a skylight, allowing natural light to flood the cooking and dining areas.
The kitchen is placed at the heart of an open-plan layout, fostering interaction and emotional connection between family members. The design incorporates garden courtyards and natural elements to create a sense of tranquility. The Panasonic Rose Gold Concept appliances and a sleek alkaline water purifier stand out in contrast to rough stone surfaces, blending modern elegance with natural warmth.
